Here’s a bright shining star to get us all through the darkest week of the year.
I saw an incredibly beautiful star bread that @barbarafrenchvegan made, and I just had to make one too. I made the same saffron yeast dough as for my saffron wreath a few posts back. It’s by far the best I’ve tried, with silken tofu from @yipin.se. I filled it with vegan butter, sugar, almond paste and crushed almonds. Below you can see step by step how to make the star. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
Step by Step
Step 1
Use the yeast dough.
8-9 dl flour makes one Star Bread.
Step 2
Divide the dough into 4 pieces.
Roll one of the pieces out into a circle.
Cover the circle with the filling.
Step 3
Repeat this until you have 4 layers of dough with filling in between them.
Step 4
Place a cup in the middle of your dough.
Use a sharp knife to cut your dough into 16 wedges.
Step 5
Take 2 of the wedges and twist them twice in opposite directions of eachother and combine the remaining parts at the ends.
Step 6
Repeat Step 5 until you’ve made a star and connected all the ends.
Bake at 225 C for 15 minutes.
Brush with dissolved sugar.
Step 7
Enjoy your Star Bread with a nice cup of tea.
